Peter Harvey baritone

Peter Harvey arrived at Magdalen College, Oxford to study French and German, and his love of languages has always remained at the heart of his singing. He went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music London, where he won prizes in a number of international singing competitions. He has made around a hundred recordings in repertoire spanning eight centuries.

He has collaborated extensively with the English Baroque Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir under Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and is a long-standing soloist with Paul McCreesh's Gabrieli Consort. Other groups with which he regularly performs and records include The King’s Consort, Purcell Quartet and London Baroque, and he has appeared with The Sixteen, the OAE, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and BBC Symphony Orchestra.

A fluent French speaker, he works and records with the Chapelle Royale and Collegium Vocale Ghent (Philippe Herreweghe) and other continental groups. He has recorded music by Mozart and Bach with the Netherlands Bach Society, and has appeared throughout Europe with Ton Koopman.

He is returning increasingly to the song repertoire, performing and recording Schubert's Winterreise with Roger Vignoles and Gary Cooper respectively. Peter gives concerts throughout Europe with the Magdalene Consort, the group he founded to perform the vocal work of JS Bach.
