Marina de Liso mezzo-soprano

Marina de Liso studied singing at the Conservatory of Rovigo where she obtained her diploma with the highest grade and continued her studies at the Music School of Milan, where she specialized in Renaissance and Baroque singing under Claudine Ansermet.

In 2001 she won the Toti Dal Monte competition in Treviso and in 2002 the As.Li.Co.competition in Milan.

In 2001 she made her debuts in Falstaff as Ms Quickly in Italy. Afterwards she sang Alcina in Vivaldi’s Orlando Furioso; Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri in Teatro alla Scala in Milan; Ragonde in Le Comte Ory at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and Flaminia in L’innocenza Giustificata by Gluck in Cologne, recorded by Harmonia Mundi.

Besides the classical repertoire she is also particularly interested in baroque music, the operas of Handel in particular. In the last two years she has performed Arsace in Partenope in Ferrara and Modena under the baton of Ottavio Dantone and the Accademia Bizantina in January 2009; Rosimonda in Faramondo with Diego Fasolis on European tour and recorded for EMI 2008-2009; Cornelia in Giulio Cesare in Genova in 2007; Andronico in Tamerlano with Emmanuelle Haim in Paris Théâter des Champs Elysées and Claudio in Silla with Fabio Biondi in Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Other roles in classical repertoire include Marchesa Melibea in Il Viaggio a Reims under the baton of Alberto Zedda, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro in Genoa and Annio in Mozart’s Clemenza di Tito.

Recently she had great success singing Cavalli’s La Didone in Teatro La Scala in Milan.

Furthermore, she sang Asteria in Vivaldi’s Bajazet with Fabio Biondi in an important tour of many major European venues and also in Japan, Speranza in L’Orfeo at Theatre du Châtelet in Paris, Mozart’s La Betulia Liberata in Beaune with Antonio Florio, Ecuba in Cavalli’s La Didone at La Fenice in Venice and in Turin, Medoro in Handel’s Orlando in France, Narcissus by Scarlatti in Luzern, London and Bucarest, Tamiri in Vivaldi’s Farnace with Jordi Savall in Paris, Vitellia in Vivaldi’s Tito Manlio at the Barbican in London with Ottavio Dantone and Oloferne in Juditha Triumphans in Spain.

In concert, she has performed with Accademia Montis Regalis, La Venexiana, Accademia Bizantina, Orchestra Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Europa Galante, Le Concert des Nations and Le Concert d’Astrée.

Recent and future engagements include Medoro in Handel’s Orlando with Al Ayre Espanol; Rosimonda on European tour and EMI-Virgin classics recording of Handel’s Faramondo, Il Pianto di Maria di Ferrandini with Ottavio Dantone in Venice La Fenice, Vinci’s Partenope (title-role) in La Coruna with Antonio Florio, Pergolesi’s Il Prigionier Superbo with Andrea Marcon and Adriano in Siria (title-role) at the Pergolesi Festival in Jesi.
