Edward Higginbottom conductor
For many years Director of New College Choir, Oxford, Edward Higginbottom has now embarked on a new phase of his career as freelance conductor.
His work is divided between choral and orchestral direction. He brings to his projects a broad range of skills in performance practice, direction and interpretation. He has invitations to conduct ensembles in Luxembourg, France, the USA, Spain and Bulgaria, not to mention the UK. His ambition is to invest in these projects the qualities of musical direction which have made New College Choir an international brand (with its awards and numerous accolades), and to share more widely his vision of what music-making can and should be about.
The first ever Professor of Choral Music at the University of Oxford, Edward Higginbottom has received further recognition from the French Government (Commandeur de l’ordre des arts et des lettres), Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music, and the Medal of the Royal College of Organists.
A long-time friend of AAM and collaborator in numerous projects, Edward is delighted to be conducting the Orchestra once again.
