AAM launches London season 2014-15

The season takes a musical Grand Tour of the eighteenth century, visiting cities whose culture inspired responses from baroque and classical composers. Alongside this series, the AAM revisits its legacy with two programmes re-uniting Christopher Hogwood, Robert Levin and Mozart. These mark the beginning of a multi-year concert and recording project. After celebrating the AAM’s 40th anniversary in 2013–14, the orchestra welcomes new and old collaborators in the forthcoming season, including soprano Anna Caterina Antonacci, keyboard player Robert Levin and trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth. This will be our second London season exclusively at the Barbican and the Milton Court Concert Hall.

Season highlights

  • The continuation of the AAM’s cycle of Monteverdi operas with L’incoronazione di Poppea in September 2014

  • The Grand Tour, exploring the great musical centres of Europe and the cities that inspired baroque and classical composers

  • A Mozart focus with keyboardist Robert Levin over two seasons, beginning in February 2015

  • Tine Thing Helseth making her period-instrument debut with the AAM in February 2015

  • Music Director Richard Egarr continuing his Bach choral performances with St Matthew Passion
