Sir Nicholas Kenyon discusses Bach
We're delighted to announce that Sir Nicholas Kenyon will join AAM Music Director Richard Egarr to discuss JS Bach's cantatas before the AAM's performances in London (18 July) and Cambridge (19 July). In addition, Sir Nicholas and Richard will sign books and CDs after the concerts.
Sir Nicholas has recently published the Faber Pocket Guide to Bach. He is Managing Director of the Barbican Centre, and has been Controller of BBC Radio 3 and Director of the BBC Proms. He has written on music for The New Yorker, The Times and The Observer.
The pre-concert talks are free, and run from 6.30pm to 7pm at both venues.
The Faber Pocket Guide to Bach
"In fewer than 500 pages Nicholas Kenyon has created a valuable addition to the musician's home reference library... In his foreword, Simon Russell Beale says that Nicholas Kenyon has here offered us a great gift. I'd echo that sentiment." CLASSICAL MUSIC MAGAZINE, APRIL 2011
"Essential for any Bach enthusiast. If reading the biographical chapters doesn't make you start planning a tour of Thuringia, I'll be surprised. The author's enthusiasm is infectious... The tone is simultaneously scholarly and light." AMAZON REVIEWER, APRIL 2011
Audience members will be able to purchase the book at the discounted price of £6, and have their copy signed by the author, after the AAM's performances in London (18 July) and Cambridge (19 July).
