2012 UK tour dates with Alina Ibragimova announced

Winner of a Classical BRIT Award and described by The Guardian as "one of the most technically gifted and charismatic instrumentalists of the age", next year Alina Ibragimova plays JS Bach, Biber and Vivaldi on an original baroque violin in a five-concert UK tour with the AAM.

The tour marks Alina's AAM debut, and her first time directing a period-instrument orchestra.

The programme explores early developments in the use of the violin as a solo instrument, from Biber's Passacaglia (thought to be the first work for solo violin) to the summit of the baroque concerto in the hands of Vivaldi and JS Bach.

"These works aren't just the start of something. They form their own world, with the full spectrum of colour and emotion - everything that music is about, in fact" ALINA IBRAGIMOVA 2011

The tour runs from 23 February to 4 March 2012, and includes performances in Dartington, Cambridge, London (Wigmore Hall), Ludlow and Bury St Edmunds. Tickets are already selling fast; book soon to avoid disappointment.

The final two concerts in the tour are presented as part of Music Nation, a Countdown Event for the London 2012 Festival and the finale of the Cultural Olympiad.
