Mezzo-soprano Maite Beaumont was born in Pamplona (Spain), where she took her degree in voice and violin at the Pablo Sarasate Conservatory while simultaneously completing her studies in sociology at the University of Navarre. She took part in master classes and was a finalist at the Spanish “Young Interpreters” Competition in 1997 and the 4th Luis Mariano International Competition in 1998. In addition, she was awarded scholarships at the 7th Julián Gayarre International Singing Competition as well as the 8th Concurso Internacional de Bilbao in 2000. She was a prizewinner at the Logroño Competition (‘Voice with the best future’) in 1997 and in Hamburg (Mozart Prize 2000 and Oberdörffer Prize 2003). With the help of a grant from the Humboldt Foundation Maite Beaumont completed her studies (1999–2003) with Hanna Schwarz at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg. From September 2000 to the summer of 2003 she was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Hamburgische Staatsoper.

Maite Beaumont has been an ensemble member of the Hamburgische Staatsoper from the 2003/04 season until 2005/06, singing roles such as Smeraldine/Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen, Ruggiero/Alcina, Zerlina/Don Giovanni, Rosina/Il barbiere di Siviglia, Cherubino/Le nozze di Figaro, Ottavia/L’incoronazione di Poppea, Sesto/Cesare in Egitto, Annio/La clemenza di Tito, Idamante in Mozart’s Idomeneo. She has appeared at the Opéra National de Paris as Ruggiero/Alcina and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona as Sesto/Giulio Cesare and Idamante/Idomeneo. In 2005 she made her Salzburg Festival debut, singing Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. At the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie she performed Melibea in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims in November 2005. In 2006 she performed Cherubino/Le nozze di Figaro and Dorabella at De Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, conducted by Ingo Metzmacher.

Her concert repertoire includes Bach’s B minor Mass and Magnificat (Soprano II), Berlioz’s Les nuits d’été and Herminie, Debussy’s La damoiselle élue, Théodore Dubois’ Les sept dernières paroles du Christ, Duruflé’s Requiem, Mozart concert arias and C minor Mass (Soprano II), Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle and Stabat mater and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella. As a concert singer she performed at the Kissinger Sommer, Rheingau Musik-Festival, Salzburg Festival and worked with orchestras such as Bamberger Symphoniker, Camerata Salzburg, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Mozarteum Orchester as well as with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Alan Curtis, Alessandro De Marchi, Christoph Eschenbach, Adam Fischer, Susanna Mälkki, Ingo Metzmacher, John Nelson, Ralf Weikert, Simone Young. In addition, she loves to give recitals.

In 2003 her first recital recording with arias by Handel, conducted by Alan Curtis, was published, followed by Handel’s Radamisto/Alan Curtis, a solo recital with Italian cantatas and operatic arias from 1700, Vivaldi’s Motezuma/Alan Curtis, Jörg Arnecke’s Das Fest im Meer/Cornelius Meister, and on DVD Handel’s Giulio Cesare.
