AAM to feature in BBC documentary with David Starkey

"Music was as integral to the image and power of monarchy as were armies and architecture."

'Music and Monarchy', which will be aired on BBC 2 in July, is a new documentary exploring this vital means of state-building, politics and entertainment from Henry V to Elizabeth II.

The AAM, directed by Richard Egarr, performs works by Purcell, Arne and Handel, as well as featuring in discussions about the music. Recording sessions took place in Stationers' Hall in London (pictured above).
